Independent doula with a midwifery background, caring for families across Sintra, Cascais and Ericeira — through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
As a German-registered midwife with long experience supporting families in their transformation — guiding them through pregnancy, birth and postpartum — I bring a strong tradition of postpartum care to families here on the Sintra coast.
My vision is to bring more warmth, sensitivity and individual trust into this vulnerable time. Mothers need to be held, supported and accompanied more — not only through birth, but well beyond it. That means guiding parents with evidence-based, empathic care — starting in pregnancy and continuing well past the birth itself.
I want to put knowledge into your hands — because knowledge is the foundation for making your own, informed decisions.
Yoga has always been part of how I support this transition. It gives you tools to stay connected to your body, to breathe and take time for yourself to focus on you, and to feel strong rather than fragile — in pregnancy, and in the months that follow.
In becoming. With cherishing.
Trained and registered in Germany, with years of hands-on experience.

After graduating and earning my academic degree in 2021, I gained experience working in both clinical and home settings — home visits, postpartum care, and pregnancy check-ups. I travelled to Tanzania as a midwife, where I volunteered in a hospital and established my own project among Maasai communities, supporting several hundred births, pregnancies and postpartum cares.
Since July 2025 I live in Sintra, Portugal, working here as a doula.
I love working with diverse people and cultures. For me it's important to create a safe space through education and emotional support, in which you feel empowered to experience the journey of motherhood on your own terms.
Every family is different, so support is always personalised — a single home visit, a course, or ongoing care that runs from pregnancy through birth and beyond.
"We cannot recommend Charis highly enough. She was an incredible source of support during the first weeks with our baby — especially through breastfeeding and newborn care, guiding us with so much patience, warmth, and expertise."
"We truly couldn't have wished for a better midwife than Charis! With her warm, caring and wonderfully easygoing personality, she made us feel completely comfortable from the very beginning. She supported me throughout my pregnancy and was there for both our son and me during the postpartum period — our time together even continued afterwards with postnatal yoga, which my husband and I did together. We always felt completely safe, supported and in the best possible hands with Charis, and we wholeheartedly recommend her."
"Charis supported me through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — she was exactly the right person for me. Even when things got stressful, she always brought a sense of calm and responded fully to what I needed. In the postpartum period we struggled a lot with breastfeeding — she stood by us the whole way, and thanks to her help we were able to fully switch to breastfeeding after six weeks of supplementing. That she cared for our baby from the very beginning means so much to us. Every expecting mother can count herself lucky to have Charis by her side."
A doula is a trained companion who offers continuous emotional, physical and informational support before, during and after birth — alongside your midwife or medical team, not instead of them.
A Motherblessing is a ritual gathering to celebrate and honour a woman as she steps into motherhood — similar in spirit to a baby shower, but slower, more intentional, and focused on her rather than on gifts.
